why does everyone want to be a rapper, no offense?

Because they're the only one with things most people want, money, cars, and love. I mean you don't see movie stars showing off their big houses or new cars in movies. But as a rap artist you can do that. And plus rap has become more accepted among different cultures and races.

MOSTLY everyone here is right. Im mean rap and hip-hop is an industry...you don't hear anyone talking about the country industry or the jazz industry. WHY? because rap sells...booty shaking, gun toting, thugged and blinged out gangstas sell. They encourage people to live beyond their means and step over people.
But this also has to do with the record executives because they know that this is what most of the public wants, whether they know it or not. They determine wht we listen to because we don't educate ourselves. Also, since rappers are the ones producing on everybody and their grandmomma's new single, there's alot of money flowing all over the place. Why do you think Mos Def and Talib and Common stay as close to the underground as possible? Its because they talk about stuff that matters and they don't want to get sucked into the everyday rap deal.
Finally, since Raps sells people all over the world are becoming westernized...people in Korea, and China, and England and Germany want to be a gangsta cuz they think that it is only glamorous..but this is what the hip-hop industry has done to the music world...

Cause you don't need talent to be a rapper. It's cheaper than taking singing lessons. Anybody can be a rapper.

Besides it's easy money for rappers to get rich so they can buy their "bling, bling" and have plenty of "hot" women dancing on their music videos.

You could say it pays to be a rapper these days. Look at 50 Cents and his entourage of rapper buddies. One thing for sure it's easy market for mostly young and hip audience.

To the 1 who said that most people want rap to go away and that they should get out and mingle...maybe it's you who needs to mingle and get out from that small town you're living in. Here in nyc and other major cities ..rap sells . Sorry you still live in the country or small town america .
