I had two cats but I don't have them anymore. One pissed all over my bed in anger and then sometimes would pee on the carpet even though the liter box was cleaned. I cleaned the pee up... but the odor is still lingering and it is starting to become a "tad" unbearable. Any suggestions?

The cat urine odor is cause by ammonia so DO NOT use a chlorine bleach solution thinking that will help. The fumes cause by ammonia and chlorine being mixed are very bad for your lungs and if bad enough, can be even deadly.

What you need to do is buy a black light bulb, a good size roll of plastic sheeting (or plastic trash bags) AND a professional odor remover that contains an organic digestant (the odor remover can be found at a professional cleaning supply store).

Now, take the black light bulb and put it into a lamp. When it's night, turn out all the lights and shine the black light on the carpet to identify the areas where the cat urine is.

After you located (and hopefully marked) the areas the cats peed on, follow the label directions on the digestant cleaner then cover those areas with the plastic. Within 24 hours, the smell will be completely eliminated forever rather than just being masked by air fresheners or scented candles.

Total cost for the supplies should be less than $20.00.

You could try a solution of dish detergent, peroxide and baking soda. Mix up in a bowl or a measuring cup, eight ounces of hydrogen peroxide, a tablespoonful of dish detergent and two tablespoons full of baking soda, and work it into the stain. Afterwards, rinse with clear water, and clean the rug as usual. This mixture helped to get rid of the odor left on my dog after he was sprayed with a skunk, as well as being sprayed by a neigbour's cat. Good luck!

Try a business in your town that sells commercial cleaning supplies. They will usually have the strongest cleaner and deodorizer to take care of the smell. Good Luck!

Use alots of white vinegar and water...They have these drops that they say will cover skunk deodors. I have seen them in the grocery stores by the detergents soap aisle... Take oxiclean and put it in your steam cleaner for your carpet...Get one of the glade canisters that go off every 8 or up to 38 minutes. They are great...Get the harvest spice one..good Luck...
