I'm into having fun and laughing and I'm there to relax and have a great time, so I'd say staring at buildings, statues or pictures on a museum wall doesn't quite do it for me as I get away so rarely.

I'd suggest going on the London Eye - on a clear day you will get some great views over the city. Tower Bridge is also a good place to visit. Take a walk along the Embankment or take a trip on the Thames. Shopping wise visit Knightsbridge, Oxford Street, Regents Street (and Burlington Arcade). Famous shops include Selfridges, Libertys, Fortnum & Mason and Harrods. Enjoy the parks including Regents Park and St James. Other areas to hang out in and enjoy the ambience are Covent Garden and Soho. Further afield are places like Hampstead (village and heath), Islington and Highbury.

Have a great trip.

You must go to LoungeLover for drinks, the crowd is mature, dressed nice, decor is unique and avante garde. It's on 1 Whitby St. website is www.loungelover.co.uk Madonna celebrated her last b-day there in August. I was there last year with a friend and it was very swank without being pretentious.
Catch a classic movie at a theater called Electric, if I can recall it's on Portabello Road. Unique theater because it's beautiful and modern. Looks like you stepped into an interior design showroom. The screen enlarges magically before your eyes! All the seats are leather and they are actually chairs or Lazy boy type seats. Ambiance is cool, and they serve cocktails and champagne, along with snacks. In the back, there are beds to lounge on and watch the movies as if you're in someone's ultra cool living room. You might have to make reservations for evening movies, it's not a huge theater. I caught a matinee of La dolce vita on a weekday, so it was nearly empty.

There are tour buses that circumnavigate the city. You can pick one up at almost any intersection - there are several companies and they are all well signed. Hop on, pay a modest fare, and in an hour and a bit you can get a view of the entire city and all the points of interest. You can get off, explore, and get on again later at no extra fee, as long as it's all in the same day. At the least, it will give you an idea of where you might want to spend more time later.

Don't forget to look BOTH ways when you cross the street! Remember, they drive on the "wrong" side over there!

You say you are into having fun and laughing so I would suggest going to Speakers Corner in Hyde Park (near Marble Arch tube station) on a Sunday. You can stand around and watch all the nutters who get up and shout about their opinions. It's great fun and it's free!
