I know your plight and have one answer. Actually 2 answers. First you might try AOL online help and ask a tech,,, but in the last 6 months aol has closed many of their call centers and dismissed the help.

I've had aol for a long time and find it to be one of the most frustrating experiences I can recall,,,especially when trying to connect,,, other than signing on to a screen name,,,which by the way has it's own list of issues.

AOL will not talk to you. there are no real people answering phones at AOL. However you can call their "India chat" line, where you can talk to a Hajibibe with an horrendous accent who does not have a real answer for you because he gets paid 35 cents an hour.
