It all depends what kind of skin type you have as well ethnicity. Also, there are brands for different age groups. Go to different counters at a X department stores and test some of them. For example, Clinique eye shadow cakes on me but not Channel. Love Victoria Secrets lipsticks but hate Estee Lauder's, it's all about trial and error.
Have fun a ask for samples.

The best cosmetics are what works best for you. You have to take your skin type, condition, color and also the size of your checking count all into question when determining the best for you. There are some drug store pieces that are outstanding along with salon and luxury lines. Great lash mascara is an inexpensive mascara that is phenomenal and Lancome has the best powder in the world with their Dual Finish. Try different things. Go to free makeup application events and have fun.

Drugstore brands actually arent that bad, they come from the same company as some of the namebrands, there is just a difference in materials. They are basically structured the same way, its just that the materials are a bit cheaper so they sell it cheaper. The best drugstore brand is Maybelline and the best name brand is Biotherm.

Whichever one makes YOU look good! I use revlon for lips, clinique for face, mary kay for eyeliner, Covergirl for blush and clinique for eyelashes. It's taken a while to find what works best for me, but I love what I have and it looks and feels good--without clogging or 'fakeness'.

I have tried everything...but I recently threw out EVERYTHING in my make-up drawer except for mascara, lip gloss, and a set of Bare Minerals. It covers GREAT, makes your skin look SO healthy, gives spf protection, and stays on even in the humidity of Houston! Try it...its not even that expensive.

I found that as I aged I had to change brands, what worked when I was younger didn't anymore, I liked Cover Girl when I was younger, now it leaves me looking caked, I now use Lancome. You have to find what works for your skin type. So many to choose from, OLay is another one of my favourites.

As one said, Bare Minerals. Or any Mineral based cosmetic, they are better than most cosmetic line at Nordy's or Macy's....and definitely better than anything you can get over the counter (Walmart, drug stores etc)
