What site(s) would I go to if I want to find information on labor laws in the US (specifically Texas) partaining to attendance and punctuality rules in the workplace? Does anyone know if there are governmental standards on "grace periods" as far as punctuality is concerned? Is it legal for an employer to punish an employee for being 30 seconds or 1 minute late for work?

Go to "Dept of Labor Texas" type that in your address bar. Your employer is harrassing you. Check to see if he is picking on other employees. If it is only you he is harrassing you because he wants something from you. Do not let him get away with it. By the way, leave 30 min early from home to get to work 5 or 10 min before clock in. Actually, you are making yourself look bad on the job. He is paying you to work and come on time. Check this out - How would you like for your check to be late? maybe one day or two days late. Think about it, okay. Goood Luck.

An employer may "punish" for any reason in at-will states; however under federal labor law, the employer must pay employees in accordance with minimum wage and overtime standards for all hours worked. They may not withhold pay as punishment.
