Hi. Sorry you are spooked but sometimes stuff happens. Global warming (or more properly, climate change) will affect a lot of things. Mass starvation occurs now without the impact of CC. In the US we depend on crops that could be wiped out in a year or less due to disease. The real question is "Can we prepare for CC?". I think yes, once we acknowledge that it is inevitable. We can try and predict where CC will have an impact and how.

Here's the problem.

Agriculture is designed around climate. Climate tells farmers what crops will grow in certain areas and where they need to build irrigation systems, a process which takes many years.

Global warming will change the climate and make it impossible to grow certain crops where they are grown now. Adapting to the changes will be hard and crops will be less for a while.

Additionally, there are some nations, like Bangladesh where a lot of agricultural land is only a few feet above sea level. That land may be ruined by salt water coming in, driven by storms.

Rich countries can deal with all that, so they won't starve, although it will cost them a lot of money. Poor countries may not be able to cope and there will be not enough food grown to feed their own people. Either the rest of the world helps (difficult because they're trying to adapt) or people will starve.
