I was in college at the time, I called in sick to my evening job and went to dinner with about 20 friends and then we all went back to the dorms for movies. It was my friends birthday, she ended up drinking way too much and thought she saw aliens and spaceships.

One of my former co-workers used to take what she called "slick leave"...she wouldn't show up and hoped the boss wouldn't notice, then she didn't have to use her sick time and could save it for later.
