I'm supposed to be designing a dance floor.
the regular scale is 16x20ft, which = 320 ft^2
i drew mine 32x40ft making the scale .5

Does one square on my drawing equal .5ft^2 or .25ft^2?

AND

If i draw a right triangle with both shorter legs being 4 squares, and the hypotenuse going diagonally through 4 squares. Would I find the area using the 2 lines on the right angle x1/2 or use the hypotenuse length times the height x1/2.

ALSO

what is the length (in feet) of the diagonal between two corners of the square.

Sorry for it being so messy, but please help I'm brain dead and can't figure it out. THANK YOU

1. One square is .5 ft x .5 ft = .25 sq ft

2. Use the 2 lines on the right angle x 1/2. (like half of a square)

3. Use A squared + B squared = C squared, where C is the hypoteneuse

Why not make the scale go by every 2 feet, or 5 feet, and just do exact numbers and then you can determine the length of the sides, and do the area for a triangle, ITs just the way you scale it, do it with good numbers like 2 or 5, so its easy to tell how long your sides are

If you drew your floor plan one side 32 squares, and the other side 40 squares, each square is 0.5', or 6".

The area of one square would be 0.25 sq. ft.

To find the area of the triangle, multiply one side x the other side, x 0.5.,
(4x4)x0.5 = 8. At your scale 0.25 x 8 = 2sq ft

The hypotenuse is 2ft 9 15/16inches.

i'll answer the second question since its the easiest and i dont have much time.
you multiply 4 by 4 and divide it by 2.
s^2/2 is the formula for finding areas of triangles.
