Why do Americans today think it's fanatical to stand up and really work for your rights and for justice? It's very saddening to see my fellow Americans so careless Just because we acquired the rights, doesn't mean it wont and isn't changing.. It's so selfish, people are so "stressed" or "busy" that they just want to be involved with the events in their own lives solely, and think they're doign their part by watching the news and maybew letting out a sigh every once in awhile. Governments have a tendency to get corrupt if you let them, please tell me there still some non-self-centered compassionate Americans still out there?

Yes, there are many of us democrats worried about the ego trip that the president is on. He has taken the right to privacy and smashed it. I know that I will work hard to elect democrats to congress in order to provide checks and balances to this evil man. By the way excellent rant.

Edit: Repuglicans should be concerned as well but to hear them in here they are more interested in fattening up their wallets to worry about a rouge leader taking freedoms away from us.

Fine, you motivated me. I guess I'll have to fight now. I think we should drastically improve the Social Contract to teach people to protect each other.
This crap of how Court TV convicted Michael Jackson by presenting evidence found in his bedroom before his trial was over is on TV everyday. I think someone ought to write a document guarantying a person a right to a fair trial and post it on the wall before Hollywood gets smart and writes a movie called Trial & Error or something. They could call it The Constitution of the United States of Iceland, know it all of the law jerk kids, the adults are almost hopeless, but We could try.
Gee maybe they could write state constitutions or something.
What ya think about a Layman's Guide to Icelandic Constitutional Rights?
Maybe some states could actually come up with Small Claims Court broshurers.
Maybe that way we'll never have another Spanish-American War or Vietnam or Mormon War against New York settlers.
Forget it! It will never work. But as long as there is some nut out there writing a question like this it is nice to have a dream that people will not be judged for their minds or color of their skin.

No it is not dead or dying. As with anything not acquired personally, it is sometimes taken for granted and abused. Freedom is the most natural state for a human being to want and live in. However, we in America tend to become lazy and think that it will last forever. Freedom is not free. Tyranny from the evil within some human beings is alive and well on this planet and if you don't have the stomach to fight for what you know is your God given right, then you do not deserve to have those freedoms.

There are sociopaths aka terrorists that will test our resolve because they know there are those among us who want to appease and think they can live with the enemy who wants to kill them. Then there are those who will defend you as well as themselves with the courage that is non-existant in the appeaser.

You must decide where you want to be and who you need to support in order to have the best chance to live your life in a more secure environment. The world is changing. Bravery, along with the ability to communicate is a plus. However, freedom demands advanced defensive as well as destructive capability are paramount. Hence, right or wrong, where do you fit in?

Oh I think there are a few who still believe in freedom of the individual. If I have to tell you that it's our military who are putting their lives on the line on a daily basis I feel sad for you. They and not the politicain nor the news media give you the right to live in the freedom you have. I hope you make the best of it friend.

The America that I knew of ended when the hostages were released by Iran in 1981.

Every day we are losing liberties left and right. Someone caught peeing in the bushes becomes a sex offender. Thoughts and speech is slowly curtailed. No one cares - not even the politicians who are 100% in AIPAC's (http://www.aipac.org) pocket. When one AIPAC politician is removed another AIPAC politician takes his/her place and promotes the same agenda. I have 95% stopped watching news and reading newspapers. The America I know is dead and I could care less.

It's getting old. It seems like Americans are fighting a war for nothing. It's sad.

It's not dead yet. Just rapidly succumbing to cancer.

The problem is, far too few people are willing to put in the time and effort to do anything about it, or even to learn about the problems.
