I thought it was supposed to make skin look better. Instead, I get really oily and shiny especially on my nose when I use BareMinerals... Any thoughts?

I find Bare Minerals doesn't work with my oily skin. The oil on my skin doesn't seem to 'mix' well with the makeup, and the minerals shift. Bare Minerals is also supposed to give a 'dewy' look, which while good for drier skin, doesn't always work for oily skin.
Since Bare Minerals only has the one formulation, you might want to try another company that has a less dewy/more matte look. I've had good luck with both philosophy's supernatural foundation and Aromaleigh's mineral foundation.

I recommend Everyday Minerals. You have many options of foundation to choose from. Original Glo-for Normal to Dry skin, Semi-Matte-for Normal to Combination Skin, Matte-for normal to oily skin, and Intensive-for All Skin Types. You'll also save about $20-$30.
I use Original Glo and it gives my skin the perfect radiance. For you, I would try either the Semi-Matte or Matte.
Oh, one more thing. If you're not sure if you want to switch to Everyday Minerals, or you just want to try it, they offer a free sample kit of 3 foundations, 1 concealer, and 1 blush of your choice. They are good for about 3 applications. You just pay about $5.00 for the shipping.

I dont care for Bare Minerals make-up. My aunt did my make-up for a christmas party we were having at work. She always brags about that make-up how natural it is and how great it is for your skin. I dont care for it at all.

that stuff is awful. i bought it, hated it. it sat on my face like corn meal and accentuated every line and wrinkle. i gave it away and she hated it too! get rid of it and try some philosophy supernatural airbrushed canvas make up, it is light years better than that other. philosophy actually does what bare escentuals says it is supposed to do. give it a try, i think you will love it!

Wear a translucent powder over it to prevent shine or apply anti-shine powder over your foundation but before your powder.
