You are in a restaurant and the waitress/waiter is bringing your your food. They set the plate down RIGHT in front of your child in a high chair--as in under 2 years old. You move it immediately and they put the next one RIGHT down in front of the child again. There is plenty of room on the table to place things out of reach of the child (or like some, ask who had what and place it appropriately). WHY OH WHY TO DO PEOPLE DO THIS? Are they morons? Do they want your child to get burned and sue the restaurant? AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! *frustrated mom here*

I should clarify, not all waitstaff have done this and I don't mean to get nasty on everyone in the profession, just certain few.

Maybe they are new at the job and don't know what they are doing - tell them when you order "do not place the plates in front of my child you you will have a big mess to clean up "
when I was a waitress I always put the right plate in front of the person who order the food and ask where do you want his/her plate if it was a small child.

I'm sorry to hear about your horrible experience at this restaurant. I suggest you never go back to that restaurant. It sounds like you had an inexperienced waitress/waiter. Or that person didn't really about their job since it was just their side job to make ends meet. People will always do things that doesn't please you. If that restaurant advertises on any yellow pages sites, such as Yahoo Yellow Pages, Google, etc., then you can write a bad review on that restaurant or you could spread your bad experience with your friends/family/colleagues or send massive e-mails to everyone you with e-mail addresses about your experience at this restaurant.

I know but all waitress's are not like that. It is usually the young ones that don't have kids. Once a young waiter burner my son who was sitting in a high chair with the coffee pot. It really pissed me off too.

maybe the tray was full of food and really heavy and rather than drop the entire tray on you and your table they were just trying to unload it as soon as possible. i doubt they intentionally put the food in front of your child to burn them or hurt them.

Because waiters are busy and they dont give a ****. they are just trying to get each table their food and get them out of there so they can get another table in after you eat and leave. Get a grip, keep an eye on your own kid, its not the waiters job.

They're busy. Underpaid. And the restaurant -- well, you get what you pay for.
