Hi,Lemv,
Individuality and independence are highly valued in our society... It is sometimes easy to forget that everything we do, including our private thoughts and fantasies, grows out of or is shaped through our interactions with others, especially others close to us... Whether we like it or not : we are born into groups and spend most of our social lives in those same groups... All of us assimilate, at least in part, the perspectives of these groups and thereby acquire our language, values, attitudes, beliefs and sense of identity.... The most basic sociological premise is that humans are social beings, shaped in many ways by the groups to which we belong. Whether they be families, athletic teams, clubs (such as sororities and fraternities), religious groups, socioeconomic classes, complex bureaucratic organizations, or nations, much of human life is guided by group norms... Much of human life, is also consumed with conflicts between groups, each of which tries to defend its own self interests...

Sociological research, also reveals the multifaceted nature of social reality, its multiple causes and multiple effects, and provides us with sets of methods suitable for unraveling the complexities of social life... Sociological study helps us to determine which steps are most likely to lead toward a given goal ...and provides ways of assessing the extent ..to which a given goal may be realized... In these ways : "Sociology ",helps us move beyond common sense.. to describe and explain more accurately the classes of social behavior... and the relations between them. ...In short : "the study of Sociology", gives a view of social reality... that fosters an understanding of social arrangements.... ;)

You're assertions are completely illegitimate and quite false. The notion of capitalism is one way amongst dozens to explain the distribution of resources continually going to an elite group. There are many other ways to explain society other than econimics. You should look into structural functinalism, symbolic interactionism, dramaturgy, feminism, environmental sociology, organizations, crime and deviance, education, sociological social psychology, stratification, demography, sexuality, modernity, globalization, social movements, post modernism, historical sociology, death and dying, disasters, marriage and family, groups, culture, industrial, urban, and many other fields in sociology to then judge how incomplete it is in academia. For the record, Marx in sociology has several criticisms. First he doesn't forsee the emergence of labor unions, he doesn't forsee the idea of profit sharing, or the emergence of a middle class. He also doesn't do an adequate job explaining how a revolution could realistically occur. I'm not sure why you would want to shut down a sociology department other than the fact that you are too narrow minded and not at well read enough on things you open your mouth about to actually survive there get a degree or even a graduate one. Sociologist serve many multifunctional purposes from research to policy making to actually making changes with the data we obtain. Since communist failed and actually most academics in ANY department tend to be democrats I really think you should just drop your attempt to point fingers on your naive attempts to cause troubles. I frankly doubt you have over 2.5 and lare ikely a sophomore at best. Try to get a grip on the big picture and look in the mirror and work on that view before taking a view elsewhere.

Because it is the science which studies society as a whole, and all the problems and situations that go on within it. It focuses on human groups and social movements, making it very useful for understanding who we humans relate to each other in our everyday existence. It does not put all its focus on monetary issues like Economic does, or on the individual itself like Sociology. With Sociology you can understand why a certain social class behaves in a certain way, or why different religious groups have different interests, or even unlock what happens in a school where people of different races share the classroom.

To know the truth is to know when to run from those that twist the political correctness to control us. For Knowledge gives us our choice and Knowledge make us free men.
