Wellbutrin is prescribed for several conditions....Not severe depression, and also sometimes smoking.....I was on it myself for a short time quite awhile ago. I do remember there were less herbal restrictions, but there were some. Do check with your Dr. Always feel in control as far as asking what can I expect long term? These are the other herbal supplements I usually take. Can I continue, or what do you suggest? If they don't have an answer, I would be wary and be in their face as to prescribing too quickly.
I don't think it can cause any long term affects if you don't have any pre existing conditions. In my case I was taking an anti-seizure drug for back pain, and found out if I stopped suddenly, it might cause seziures...I wasn't happy with the doc.
If memory serves me correctly, one of the things you need to usually watch on most meds (or check) is grapefruit juice. This can usually null or enhance the effect of the drug...Some other herbals like St. John's Wort, have had some bad raps in further testing, so read up on the booklet usually enclosed, or go on-line & type in the drug to healthsquare.com. It's like a mini PDR..
Simple to read, gives you ALL the possible side effects, that won't bother everyone, (like an insert), and also tells you what foods to avoid. But the bottom line is how you react, and only your Dr. can know that, based on what you tell them.
Hope that helped!

OMG you are literally the coolest person I have ever met (or read from). All of those books are fantastic and I simply cannot see The Witches and Animal Farm are banned. They might as well tell you the only thing you can watch is the news on TV and still block the reports about the Middle East. You've graduated by now I suppose so did you get away with it for the rest of your high school career? You're are just freaking amazing, I wish you were here right now so I could buy you a machiatto or something from Starbucks. You go girl, like this is awesome. This is definitely you can tell people as a story or something. You're freaking brilliant. I salute you and bet you're off now doing something brilliant with your life. Congratulations! You're an inspiration to so many kids. Like even if you got like suspended or something (even though that's not good at all) at least it would have been something cool and awesome. Just... you go girl,:)

Well, it's not like Lithium, so you won't have to worry about tardic dysconesia or Prozac, where you have to be concerned that you're in the 5 percentile that goes psychotic. The only thing I can think of, in the long term, is possible liver damage so make sure you have a blood liver test done at least every 6 months.

You should definitely tell your doctor about the herbal supplements you are taking. There is a chance that Wellbutrin might react with it.

If you are taking Wellbutrin, I assume you have depression. I've lived with people who had untreated depression, and it was miserable. I hope that you and your loved ones don't have to go through that. Stay on the Wellbutrin.

i am on the same thing 300 hundred mil... i do not take anything with it except for over the counter drugs... my doctor put me on it, i have taken many anti depressants and i like this one best. it should not interact with your herbal supressants, they are supposed to be natural, i will ask my doctor about the long run affects. i have alot going on, so my nerves are pretty bad, i may have to have my dosage moved up, good luck.

Joe R. is a fool. Ignore him. Wellbutrin has no sexual side effects. Long term use is unknown. Most anti-depressants aren't meant for long term use. They're used mostly so a person can work through hard times in their lives easier.

I don't know about the long term effects, but I'm pretty sure it's dangerous to take herbal supps while taking any antidepressant. Check with your doctor.

You should definitely check with either your doctor or naturopath (maybe both!) to determine any interactions or over medication. If you don't know a naturopath and would like to see one, you can go to www.trinityschool.org. They have graduates listed by state on their web site.
