if the problem is 2/4 you divide 2 by 2 which equals one and then divide 4 by 2 which equals 2 so your answer is 1/2
if the problem is 16/36 you could start by dividing by 2 which would give you 8/18 and you can still simplify it so you can divide it by 2 again which would give you 4/9 and you cant simplify it anymore
or for the same problem you could divide by 4 which would give you 4/9

here is a website in case you didnt understand my explanation

The easiest way is to find a number that will go into both the top number and the bottom number. Then divide them by that number. Example: 4/6. 2 will go into both 4 and 6 so the simplfied answer would be 2/3.

the easiest way that i think is to find a number that goes evenly into both the top and bottom, and divide the top and bottom with that number. keep doing it until you can't go any smaller. this should suffice for most practical fractions that we use in real life.
