It's a very big question that lots of psychologists have studied. What motivates a person to do something?

I think the bottom line is that if people convince themselves they *want* to do something, they will try to do it if they can.

How do they *want* to do something? By believing it's enjoyable, that it will benefit them, or that it is necessary for survival or otherwise.

From what I've seen, this pretty much applies to what everyone else has said. (intelligence, curiousity, betterment etc.)

Excellent question!

My personal happiness and the well being of my two children are my motivation in life at the moment. When they are out on thier own then hey.........my motto will be "don't call me, I'll call you" from some cruise ship or remote sandy beach or the depths of the ocean with a "shell phone" hahahaha!!
