Both Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell could be President if they wanted.
Both Republicans by the way.

Someday. I voted for Black and Hispanic candidates in California, and they won as Mayors and State Reps.
Is the country suffering from racism? Of course! I think Lieberman was not nominated as Democratic Presidential candidate instead of Kerry just because he has a Jewish name!
I would not label ALL Americans as racists, though!

Yes I think we will one day see someone that is non white get into the office. Heck if Jeb Bush’s son ever runs he is Hispanic. Many people feel we will see a non-white president before we see a female president.

I personnel think Powell would make an excellent President, but I don’t think he would ever run.

Yes
and Yes.

All people are racist... to some degree.

But America will someday have a Black president, but this black president will not be a strong supporter of traditionally black causes.

have to disagree with the statement " that everyone is racist to some degree". i have been able to travel the world a little
and have had to live and learn different cultures and beliefs.
maybe this person is confusing racism and cultural tolerances.
back to the question; yes, maybe sooner than we think and i welcome the chance to vote for for the best person and i don't care if their color is purple, next question, as a whole, no, we still have some issues, but for the most part when you group us
together we are Americans and dang proud of it.

I believe one day we will. I'd vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat. Never Condoleeza Rice. Too much of a Bush butt-kisser for me. Powell thinks for himself - and I think he'd be a fantastic president. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever get the chance to vote for him. :(

I do believe I'll see a black president in my lifetime, unless I die a whole lot sooner than I expect. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone and make it a black female. Let's all vote for Halle Berry for President!
