Hi Dude
I used to play the trumpet and wished I'd put more effort into it because I was shaping up quite well.
I guess the secret is to practice, practice, practice and listen to some of the greats and the styles they developed to give you more of an ear for some of those hard notes.
Make sure you look after your instrument well too - this was another of my downfalls!
Good luck with it - the trumpet makes a terrific noise!!

be sure to remember the fingerings and when you play play loud but make sure that it is with a good tune(don't sound like crap you're trying to play so loud) be sure that you are always tuned and sit in the first four inches of your chair, keep time and don't get into any really bad habits such as playing out of the side of your mouth, sit up straight look at a website or something on how to hold the trumpet... i have to go but email me if you need more info my email address is trumpets_rock88005@yahoo.com

Practice while your neighbors are NOT HOME! and stop before 9pm on any night! Thank you from a person who has a neighbor with a drum set, trumpet, and some sort of kari-okee machine but not enough money to practice out some where else!

Trumpeters pucker their lips a lot. So, Kiss, kiss, kiss!
Oh yeah, call a middle school or high school and ask for the music director, or band teacher. They might give lessons. At the least they should know someone who will giv eyou lessons.

no cuz then I'd have to say things like "blow" and "fingering" and then I'd get all giggly and ya know......
