If you're simplifying, then I can do that. I'm not sure what you're solving for though; g or x?

Simplified:

8x-gx + 3 = What?

Solve for g:

8x + 3 = gx
(8 + 3)/x = g

Solve for x:

8x - gx = -3
x(8 - g) = -3
x = -3/(8 - g)

8x-2-gx+5 = 8x-gx+3 = x(8-g)+3
