How many credits do you need to recieve your bachelor's degree? I am taking a concurrent class right now at a community college and I'm getting three credits for it. Are all classes three credits? How many credits do you need total?

I plan to attend the University of Oklahoma (I already have the grades and test scores, I just need to be accepted). Its the biggest and most prestigious in Oklahoma, and it has a big rep. (Maybe that will give you an idea of the kind of stuff required)

I want to major in Liberal Studies then go to medical school, so I will have lots of science/lab classes.

Thanks for your help!

Classes can range from one credit to ten, but they generally stay at five and under. Harder or more time consuming classes are usually more credits. A credit is generally the time that you spend in that class in a week, in hours. So if you are taking 15 credits a quarter, you are generally in class for 15 hours a week. In most universities, a degree will be 120 credits, although I have heard fo some that do it on 90 credits instead. Check the U you want to go to to find out for sure.

Not all classes are worth three credits. Sometimes you will find physical education courses are only worth one credit. Lab supplements are often worth one or two credits. Occasionally departmens will teach a 100 level course only worth 1 credit to majors. I believe most universities the standard number of credits is 120 to graduate, but depending on your focus, so many specific requirements must be met in your chosen department.

To get a bachelor's degree, you need 120 hours or more. Most college classes are 3 hours (3 hours lecture a week), but some courses may be 1, 2, 4 or even five hours long. Most P.E. courses are 1 or 2 hours long. Most lab courses (science and health related courses) are 4 hours long (3 hours lecture a week, and I hr lab per week.)
