Flies eat..well fecal matter. Spiders eat other anoying bugs. What does a mosquito do, except bite you?

there is a lot to learn from mosquito infact. to common people, we are only exposed to mosquitos which bites us. not all mosquitos do that, not all species of mosquito which do that. in the past we have used different variety of mosquitos to anihilate the blood sucking mosquitoss. surprisingly, there is this mosquito eating mosquito species! this is the normal method praticsed to reduce the infestation of the blood sucking mosquitos.

in science and medicine, mosquitos are a fav subject for the study of AIDS, as for a fact, mosquitos are totally immune to HIV ; even when they bite a person who is a carrier, they do not pass it on to another person which they bite later.

in history studies of nature and animals, mosquitos is a hot subject as they have been on earth for the past 170 million yrs. imagine what knowledge they carry ard them for their sucess..

so the next time u get bitten by mosquitos, say thanks!

Bats, birds and lizards eat the insect itself and the larvae, which hatch underwater are a source of protein for fish and water birds.

As to why they reproduce in such an odd way, with the female requiring blood to assist breeding, then that is a mystery!

OK - they do have a purpose in that they help pollinate certain plants. Also, I kind of think of mosquitoes and poison ivy and other such life forms as somehow guardians of the wild.

they control the populations by introducing diseases and pain to the world's organisms. they also live to sustain themselves. not everything on earth has a purpose to benefit other creatures....some advance life others control it. they bite u to control what u do and not proliferate to point of extinction.

They are parasites - just like everything else, they exist just to exist - they probably are food for a number of other bugs and animals too.
