I would like to get some fake train horns for my truck. Are they legal to honk at people with? 18 wheelers use some like them. I live in Houston if that counts...

They are legal as long as it doesn't exceed the maximum decibels permitted in the state the truck is registered. I would just get a set of horns, a compressor and tank and bank on the Troopers not knowing how loud they are. I think train horns are around 140 decibels, most states limit horms (except trains and emergency vehicles) to 120 decibels.

If your state tests horns during vehicle inspections just stuff a pair of socks in them before the inspection.

I suppose you can. I don't think you need that loud a warning device. Wear earplugs and expect to be pulled over.

I don't think they are legal on any other vehicle. They are safety features for trains. They are not novelty items.
