Let me ask this another way. And I’m not trying to start a fight, I just want to understand. We know that the odds of being killed in your car is a lot higher than being killed in any kind of attach, and yet we continue to drive. However, we are so afraid of terrorism, that many are willing to pay huge sums of money and give up freedoms Americans have enjoyed for 200 years.

Why are we so scared when the real danger of terrorism is low?

If we are so scared we are willing to give up our freedoms, does that mean the terrorists win?

I do not like the hassle at the airport. I'll give you that. I'm not afraid of a terrorist attack killing me. I am slightly concerned about a terrorist attack effecting the economy and possibly my job which I need desperately. Certainly not terrified. The point is we've ignored terrorist attacks for twenty years. They do not go away by ignoring them. They only get worse. How bad would they have to get before you think we should do something drastic?

If we give up freedoms, search homes w/o proper warrants, etc. we eliminate the things that make this country special. England ,France Spain and other western countries are producing far more terrorists than the US. The people that immigrate there don't get treated properly, there still is a caste system over there. Of course we have problems treating people fairly, racism is still raising its ugly head, but new arrivals here can become successful. Take a look at the number of Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Dominican, West Indian, and many Middle East people that have successful businesses. When France had those riots outside Paris a couple of months ago, they were justified, in my opinion. They Muslims are getting the short end of the stick, the poor treatment is obvious. the reason is people coming into the US feel an affinity to America is they have these freedoms, they can be a success, they can worship the way they want. If they call a cop because of racism, the police respond, sometimes they respond for the wrong reasons like fear of losing their jobs or seeing their names in newspapers but they respond and I believe the majority of cops do the right thing because it is the right thing, not out of fear of losing their job.
I hope this answers your question but to put it simply, we cannot give up our freedoms, Mr. Bush is so wrong it hurts, you can't fight this thing by doing the wrong thing.

hey Einstein you can't name one freedom that has been lost and the terrorist threat is REAL The only way terrorist can win is denial of the real threat and not facing it (BTW denial is not a river in egypt)
