To other parts of an Internet software Java applet is like an object having the same status as a Flash on a page; but Java applet is obviously written in a programming language with more available programmatic options to it while Flash has geared more towards moving presentation on page.
It is like a program similar to ActiveX controls over streaming on the Internet; but unlike ActiveX a Java program without authenticity is ran with a protective layer to prevent it doing anything locally to your own computer that includes stopping it from deploying virus or any spyware. While ActiveX without authenticity merely warns you the possibility of such action in a program that is not authenticated.
