Women who have ahad a ceserean?

Question

I had a ceserean with my first child but I was completely out. I'm about to have my 2nd ceserean but was wondering if the dr cuts the umbilical cord or does the husband choose to?

I know w/ normal labor he would get to do it but I was wondering about ceserean.

It depends on the circumstances at birth, the doctor and the hospitals policies. Hopefully they will let your husband do it...Something special to remember forever!

My mother was the one in the OR with me, and the dr cut my son lose from me, and when he was layed on the table to be cleaned up the allowed my mother to cut the cord. My dr left a long cord for her to cut, but noone will be allowed near your open stomach to cut the actual cord that is attached to you. Good luck on your 2nd, I have my 2nd one in January.

my husband cut the cord for my 3rd ceserean, i guess it depends on the circumstances. Good luck and congrats.

I had an emergency C-section and a scheduled one, and my husband got to cut the cord both times.

My husband was able to cut the cord but only after they had the baby away from me and on the warming table.

that depends on the Hospital policies you need to call them and ask. i had an emergency C-section and my husband got to be there BUT he didn't get to cut the cord. Not that he would have anyways he said he didn't want to cut a piece of his son away lol!!

With my cesarean they cut the cord initially and once they had him under the warming light and claning him off my fiancee cut it the rest of the way.
