I agree that second hand smoke is a problem, but I think cigarettes should remain legal.

I have never smoked and don't ever plan to, but if we have to have these kinds of vices, let's hang onto tobacco and alcohol. We know their effects and have laws in place to regulate both. Making cigarettes illegal will only create another kind of Prohibition and all the crime that would go with it.

no they shouldn't be illegal, but I think they should allow no more lawsuits against tobacco companies. I agree the 2nd hand smoke is awful. I just avoid places that have a lot of smoke. I used to smoke. They need their places too. I have the right to not go there.

You can't possibly be serious. What next? Should coffee be illegal? It's not good for you either. How about alcohol? Wait, they tried that once, it didn't quite work out.
Once you start letting the government tell you what's good for you, they won't stop. After cigarettes, it will be something else.
It would be interesting to see what effect a cigarette black-market has on our society, though.

There is currently no hard evidence that second hand smoke causes cancer. It is just believed to. That said I hate smoking and think it should be outlawed in places like bars or restaurants. Even if second hand smoke does not harm people it is still bad for people who smoke.

I do not think that it should be illegal however, they should be given a ticket if they expose non-smokers to it. You are right second hand smoke is a big problem.

If they want to kill themselves no problem, but they should not be allowed to take people with them...

Weed is illegal, but people still get it. Making something illegal won't make it go away.
