It depends on the individual. There are a lot of really dumb myths about weight training and muscle building, and they all come from people who know nothing about weight training and muscle building.
Weight training isn't a particularly efficient cardio workout, but it won't have a negative effect on your cardio health. It is great exercise and you will be better off than someone who doesn't work out at all. But don't expect any great cardio benefits from weight training.
Nothing bad will happen to you, and like I said, you'll still be better off that if you didn't work out at all.

You will keep putting on body fat, and be in bad shape. Part of the key to building good looking and big muscles is doing cardio along w/ it.

Balance your workout with cardio for long term health benefits. If you put on muscle, your weight and appetite will increase, so your heart should be stronger too.

you will not necessarily get fat as the jackasss above states.
It varies with individual metabolism and your age.
strickly lifting you will definately put on muscle and may look like a bricksh*t house but you wont be able to run to the mail box by your early 30s.
