You could go with Asian, but those are really cliched....I mean, everyone has those. I saw a guy with elven (lord of the rings) letters that looked cool; also, Arabic script is beautiful. Just make sure you know what it says; you never know when someone will be able to read it. You can also make up your own symbols; some of the glyphs from the Blade movies and tv show are interesting. Not saying to copy them, but they might be good for inspiration. The best thing about making up your own is that no one else has them. I created all my own designs and get compliments whenever I show them.

everyone and their mama has kanji. arabic is cool and looks nice,, but it may be offensive considering we are at war with the people that speak that language. if you are going for a one word phrase, like a name or something, how about an ambigram (can be read upside down and says the same thing right side up). best bet is to find a font (1001 fonts.com), type it out whatever phrase you want and bring to tattoo shop. i found a cool font that was different and i had my sons name done.

Keep in mind that not all fonts can be tattooed at the size that you want.
If line detail is too close together, it will look all smushed together overtime.

print off some of your favourite fonts and bring them into a tattoo shop, the artist will enlarge them to the smallest possible size possible.

If you mean like styles, i'd try getting some sort of asian lettering, or arabic, those would look really neat on your skin.
