you should look for the bad as well as the good in every situation - happiness depends on realism - realism depends on not ignoring the bad - the bad is there to avoid by seeing it and coming to see the way through it - the happy person is solving problems not ignoring them

happiness is your everything - realism is all your happiness - see the evil as well as the good - dissatisfaction with the bad, and finding solutions, is part of happiness - not going into denial about parts of reality

all bad is to be transmuted by your creativity - bad is not to be accepted as indestructible and ignored

Good and bad are yin and yang...there is a balance needed to sustain the Universe. Like matter and antimatter...create a bit of one, create of bit of the other. Heaven and Hell, right and wrong. There can be no light without a corresponding dark. No noise without a silence to oppose it. So, yes there is good in every situation, but also there is bad. If you eat, you take away something living, convert it to you actually. That is the balance.

Great question. I do not believe that there is good in every situation we face as human beings. Some of the thiongs that can happen to us have no good in them at all. But, we can take even the worst situation and turn it to the good if we choose to do so. For example, we can learn from suffering how to protect people from suffering, if we want to.

I took it as a sign to slow down the drinking and get my act together.
Now 10 years later I am married and with a young girl and I still look at that painful, sad event as the kicker for me to turn things around in the best way possible.

No. If you believe a child in a third world country can be molested then physically beaten to death and forgotten only to think there is a good side to that, you are morally bankrupt.
