If you do respond it will only confirm what was said. Just try controlling your anger next time and figure out what lead you to that point so you can recognize it before it starts next time. when you can tell that you are angry or upset, go for a walk, take a bath, read a book, or anything that will releave stress.
Communication is a key skill in getting what you need from life. It is basically the sending and receiving of messages. If you are not sending a clear signal, you are probably sending static. People tune out static. Many conversations between people are not effective communication. They may both be talking, but annoyance and confusion are the outcome, not understanding. You will be at a big advantage if you can learn to both listen and respond accurately.
good luck

To a married co-worker trying to get a date with me: "I'm sorry, but I have plans. You're going to have to take your wife." It's my favorite line, and it works like a charm. Or another favorite: "If I have to go to anger management, you're going with me!"
