It depends on the type of bullet being fired, and to a lesser extent the type of gun from which it is fired. All bullets fall to the ground at the same rate. What makes them go further before hitting the ground is the velocity at which they travel. Heavier bullets will slow down faster and therefor travel shorter distances, lighter ones the opposite. Also, different bullets have different charges behind them, the more charge (or gunpowder), the more velocity the bullet will have and the farther it will travel. The manufacturer of the ammo will have the info for it's maximum distance.

it depends on
the power of the gun, a 22 calibre rifle would fire a bullet that could travel about 1 mile, a 303 calibre rifle can fire a bullet that could travel about 9 mile.
the amount of gunpowder in the bullet
the weather, wind and rain will affect the result
the elevation of the barrell, ie. if pointed to the sky gravity works against it if pointed too low it will run to ground etc...
the size of the projectile in the bullet
Remember that the travel distance is not the same as the effective range of the bullet ie. a 22 bullet can travel a mile but would not neceassarily be effective over that distance.
a projectile loses power (velocity) and height as it travels because of wind resistance and gravity.
the study of ballistics is a very detailed study that takes years to master.

Your question cannot be answered correctly. You have to specify the type of gun and a few other variables. Even with a specific gun there will be many different answers because bullets have different weights, primers, powder amounts, and shapes. Bullet travel will also vary according to the angle of the shot, wind, whether it hits anything along the way (leaves, sheetrock, rain) to its final stop, how clean the barrel of the gun was......too many variables to list in this type of forum. Ballistics - the science of figuring the trajectories, paths/distances of travel, etc.of bullets - is a whole scientific field of study. You could probably get some ideas about what you want to know by doing a search on ballistics.

look at a box of ammo........

Knowing that a bullet will fall to the ground in the same time as an object dropped from the same height.

looking at the ammo... a 22 caliber rifle 1300 feet per second

a bigger rifle maybe 3000 feet per second

so if you fired the gun level it would go near a mile untill it hits the ground.. 45% angle would net a maximum range.

in this instance you can get a few miles out of a high power rifle.

there are many factors and it is not easily answered.

Depending on the gun, the bullet, etc, but a mile is not out of the question for a rifle.

what bullet? what is it size? what is it made of? what is its shape?
from which gun does it come from?
how is the bullet "exploded" from the gun?

...given those facts it is but a simple equation, what is not so simple, apparently, is to pose a concrete question (the best question in the world is answered by a yes or a no, never a mabe, maybe and "who knows" is no answer, as we all know

offhand i would say the bullet will travel as far as it can, and then it is a question of gravity and momentum... geography can help

It depends on a lot of factors: type of gun, bullet, atmospheric conditions to name some.

A bullet travels until it hits something.

Approximately 2100-2300 feet depending on what gun i.e. handgun, rifle. Rarely does a handgun bullet travel this far.

It depends on the type of gun, the type of ammo, the angle the gun is fired at, and the weather.
