Ok, if you can find m, the b is the easy part. Just plug the numbers from one point or the other into y=mx + b.

b's the only missing number! and you can solve!

For instance...
(-2) - (3)
------------- = -5/5 = -1
(4) - (-1)

m= -1

y = -1 *x + b
-2 = -1 * 4 + b
-2 = -4 + b
2 = b

I hope this helps! Best of luck on the rest of your problems!

take the two y points (3,-2 and subract them. Then take the two x points(3,4) and subtract them. Then take the Y answer and put it over the X answer. If the graph is going up from left to right then the number should be positive, if it is going down from left to right the number should be negative. That give you the slope

And then the equation should be y=(the slope)x+ the y intercept.

To find the y intercept, just plug in either set of numbers and use the slope with the equation.

slope is
y-y / x-x = m or
[3 - (-2)] / [-1 - 4] or
5/-5 or
slope is = -1

now using
y-y / x-x = -1 and using one point on line (-1,3) then

[y-3] / [x-(-1)] = -1 so
[x+1] times [y-3] / [x+1)] = -1 time [x+1] so
y-3 = -x-1 so
x + y = 2

Once you find the slope, use the formula y=mx+b and solve for b. Just use one of the coordinates given for x and y.

(-1,3) and (4,-2)
m = (-2 - 3)/(4 - (-1))
m = (-2 + (-3))/(4 + 1)
m = (-5)/(5)
m = -1

(-1,3), m = -1
3 = -1(-1) + b
3 = 1 + b
b = 2

ANS : y = -x + 2
