14.95 times 1.06 (this represents the cost plus 6% expressed as .06) equals 15.847 rounded to $15.85. Or 6% equals 6 divided by 100 which equals.06. Then 14.95 times .06 equals 0.897 which is 6% of 14.95. So $14.95 plus .897 equals $15.847 rounded to $15.85 I hope that helped. Write it out in math language and you might see it better.

No. I am not willing to believe you can't do this yourself. Can you multiply 14.95 x .06? That's how much tax to add. So then add that to $14.95, and there you are.

Write the expression as you say it. Whenever you say is, put an =. Whenever you say plus or and, put +. Also, remember that percentages are really like a number out of 100, so 6% is 6/100 (divide it out to find out what it would be as a decimal). This is a pretty easy one.

14.95 times .06=.897, or 90 cents. 14.95 + .9 = 15.85.

Your cd costs $14.95...and at 6% tax, you would add 6 cents to every dollar...There is a break at 78 cents, I believe, so you would have to go to $15.00...6x15=90 cents...So your product would cost you: $15.85...
I hope this helps...

Final Cost = Cost_Cd (1+tax)

FinalCost= 14.95(1+0.06) 6% = 0.06

FinalCost = 15.85

Good luck with your CD
