Yes, I have been in your spot. About 4 years ago I got an abnormal pap with my first pap smear. I had to get 5 biopsies of the cervix because they said the tissue looked abnormal. It was a little scary and uncomfortable but not too bad. It was a strange sensation... they numb your cerivix with some cream and it feels like a plucking when the tissue is removed. It also makes you feel like you have bad menstrual cramps. They should explain all of it to you. I had to wear a pad for the rest of the day in case of bleeding, but I didn't have much. After this, they analyze the biopsied tissue and determine if you need further treatment. If they feel as if biopsying the tissue was enough then that's all. They may determine that you need laser treatment though to resolve the issue. I wouldn't worry... they probably caught the problem early. Good luck

Yep I did, after the second pap test came back I went to a gynocologist (which I wish I had of gone to in the first place!) and found that I had some abnormal cells, the end result was a LEAP, which removed the cells (slightly uncomfortable but nothing like labour!) and I had to go and have a pap test done about 3 months later to make sure all was okay. It was! Go to a gynocologist before some doctor scares the hell out of you - perhaps even the doctor that delivers/delivered your baby. I still continue to see the gynocologist because he answers all my questions and he's knowledgeable. It is very common for abnormal paps to happen, good luck and let us know how it turns out for you!

Yes, when I was pregnant with my first child, the doctors said my pap results were abnormal and that I would have to get another test done a few weeks after he was born.
I had that done and everything was back to normal.
It's just because when you are pregnant, you are more likely to get little infections down there (nothing major) and any slight change will show up on the test, that's more or less what my doctor told me anyway.
And this doesn't mean anything is wrong either or that the baby is in danger, so don't worry!!

Yes, it is a little uncomfortable. It doesn't really hurt that much. You may have to spotting for a couple of days after the coloscopy. There can be many reasons that you have to have one done. maybe abnormal cells. Make sure you get retested in 2-3 months after the first test. Good Luck

Yes , abnormal paps happen all the time. Why doctors go around scaring the hell out women I'll never know.Sometimes it's just extra cellular gunk( for lack of a better word)that affects the reading. All you need to do is wait and go back in like two months for a recheck. You could even go to a walk in clinic where there's a nurse practioner just to get a second opinion.

I did a few years back. The biopsy was not that bad, it was a little uncomfortable, the results were I had very mild abnormal cells that could have developed into cancer,I had them lasered off under general anastesia , all of my paps were normal afterwards.

yes the procedure hurts a little b/c they are clipping a piece of you cervix to test it. I had it done a couple of times and i feel that it is something extra for them to charge you on. all mine came back fine. I believe as women we go through so many changes to the point that it easy for us to have an abnormal pap test one in a while. Also get it done the first time but if you teat keeps coming up abnormal go get a second opinion.

My best friend had this and she had cramps for like a week after wards. They then do a retest within 1-2 months to make sure that it is not abnormal again. After that if it is still abnormal they will do more or send you to see a surgeon to talk about your options. Good Luck !

i have had the pleasure of having to go through it 3 times..with my first pregnancy they did a pap and found abnormal cells,so when i was 5 months preg they did a biop on me and it was a about 2/3 weeks later they had the results...the results werent very good...i had low and high abnormal cells and was later found to be HPV....its a sexualy transmitted disease that can go away on its own but for the unlucky few it can lead to cervical cancer.i wish you the best and hope to god whatever it is ,it goes away and has no lasting effect for you!!.
