My neighbor consistanly call Code Enforcement when our grass gets too high, and yes she measures the grass with a ruler! We have hired a lawn man, so she can;t complain anymore. NOw she has taken to calling Animal Control to report that my dogs are abused and starving. We raise great danes, and my youngest is 9 months old and weight 165 plbs. Not starving or abused. This is the 2nd time she has done it ant this is the 2nd time the officer has closed the case as being frivolous. SHe also had a friend call form 30 miles away to say that my dogs are barking and annoying her. How can she hear a dog bark 30 miles away?? Do we have enough grounds to file harrassment charges against her? What other options do you think we have? Any help???? thanks Irene

If you're painting an accurate picture, it sounds like a clear case of harassment. Contact your local police department. If they won't do anything, hire a lawyer and file a civil suit.

I have a feeling we are only getting one side of the story. If your dogs bark at all after 10:00 pm, this is against city ordnance and you can be fined if turned in and you do nothing about it. I have found that many times, people with dogs let their dogs go crap in someone else's yard, bark up a storm, tear your privacy fence down, are often times infested with ticks and fleas that move right on over into your yard when they finally get around to spraying. I find that many pet owners out there don't really care about their neighbors and I have a feeling you may be one of them.

Animal Control should be able to go to the county prosecutors office with charges of filing a false report! They should of suggested this to you, but probably they dont want to be caught up in filing the paperwork. And yes you can hold them liable for harrassment, but what would be your gain, other than for them to stop what they are doing. Good Luck!

let her
sooner or later the animal control services will stop repsonding due the "cry wolf " syndrome she is creating, as long as your are on the up and up, let her call away. let her call code enforcement as well, sooner or later thy will stop coming around as well, in fact they very well might take a peek into her house to see what code violation she has ( they usally have something ).... maybe she has a meth lab and the dogs can smell it, or a pot farm... who knows....
