My parents just bought a 12 X 14 section of vinyl for $126.02. My mother wanted to know how much that is per square foot. I got 46 cents/sq ft. Is this right? Thanks.

LOL. I hope this is not homework considering that I am 25 years old. But I could see why you would think that. (And yes it is pathetic that I couldn't figure it out myself.)

Well 12x14=168, so to find the amount per square foot, it's 126.02/168, which turns out to be 75 cents per square foot. I think you may have just switched the numbers around or something.

12 x 14 =168 sq feet
if vinyl worth 50 cents/sq ft, the total cost is 84 dollars which
is less the that amount u paid. therefore ur answer is too low(wrong)

my calculation is this
divide the amount by the number of sq feet
126.02 / 168 = 0.75
thus the answer to ur question is 75 cents / sq ft

omg, omg i hope im right, lol

Ok, let's see,

The Area for the vinyl section is 12 x 14 = 168 sqft

Cost (per square feet) = 126.02/Area = 0.75

or 75 cents/sqft

You can go back and tell Mom that it cost her 3 quarters per square feet.

if you mean 12 ft x 14 ft vinyl then you have 12x14 sq foot or 168 sq ft

$126.02 divided by 168 sq ft is a lil over `$0.75 sq ft

75 cents sounds right, but fyi, flooring is usually sold by the square YARD, not the sqft. that gets into a whole different mathematic calculation
