Depends on how well you know this person and if you think you and he are really friends.

- If the e-mail wasn't returned to you as undeliverable, you can assume he got it and doesn't want to answer or is just busy at this time.
- If you have reason to believe you are good friends, you could send another note asking if he received the first e-mail. You could say you just want to be sure he received it and that he is alright.
- If you still don't receive an answer, you might consider if you did or said something to offend the person.
- If you are sure you did not, it might be that the other person doesn't want to continue the friendship.
You can't make someone want to continue a friendship.

Well for one.. they may not have had time to give you the answer they want to give you. Maybe they want to talk to you face to face. Maybe they are avoiding you until they cool down. Lots of maybes here. Just chill out. You made the initial move to asking for friendship and its really up to them to make the next move. You have done all you can do at this point. The ball is in their court. Let it go and in due time you will get an answer. Might not be what you want, but I feel that if they are mature, you will get some response. Good luck.

Maybe they haven't had a chance to write back yet or dont know how to reply.

Don't give up hope yet.

And if nothing else...at least you tried by even sending an email...

They could be really busy. Or maybe they just want to make sure they aren't coming accross too needy or something by answering back right away.

yeah be patient and keep some distance. buggin someone right after you broke up wont work very well b/c it will just want them to get even farther away from you. if you play it cool and not freak out, they will find it easier to be your friend and talk to you. they dont want to be friends with a clingy ex.

Either they're avoiding you, or don't want to deal with your e-mail or they didn't receive it. Sometimes my friends e-mails are sent to Junk Mail and I have to check it frequently to make sure.
