I have been so glad to finally see women in bra and panties that look like real women, not scarecrows in Victoria's Secret.

Dispite all your previous answers received, i agree with your question! We do need more realistic role models as a society, and it was great to hear on the news that a mainstream fashion show in Italy was turning away stick thin models who were under weight for their height!!!!Dont get me wrong on this please, fashion does need a clothes horse of some sort but not to the detriment of the impressionable younger female generation!!!

I guess when people see stick-thin models in magazines they somehow think that if they buy clothing from that certain clothing line, they too will look like that in the specific article of cloth. This is why magazines, etc. continue using these unrealistic models for their ad's. I think that if they would use real women in their magazines or clothing ad's it would help many individuals achieve a higher confidence level as they will see not everyone is perfect. I'm sure many eating disorders could be prevented as well this way.

I completely agree. Well done to Dove or their 'Campaign for Real Beauty'.

You know all those paintings by the old Italian masters where all the women were pot-bellied? Well, that's what was considered 'sexy' at the time. It showed a woman was well nourished. I believe, in time, probably a long time though, judging by todays men, that men will come to appreciate the full-figured woman again.

I ain't skinny, but dammit I've a good *** and great boobs... I'm engaged and my fiance loves my body. I wish more men were like him, then there wouldn't be this epidemic of bad-body-image.

I don't think the Victoria's Secrets models look like scarecrows. They look great and I think they show off the undergarments very well too. If models can't look good in things then I don't think Jane Q. Public will want to buy them.

Agreed, those stick thin models are in a minority, there are not that many girls who look like that in real life, and will NEVER look like they do even if they dieted forever. I am sick of hearing people always saying they are on a diet, when they look perfectly normal. People just want to look like lolly pop sticks with heads on. This is such a dangerous view as severe dieting can lead to infertility, the whole human race will be wiped out because girls will all be too thin to have kids. Those skinny girls look like freaks, with big long gangly arms and legs and all their ribs sticking out, and I am not a fat chick who is jealous, I wear kids clothes, but that's only coz I am short, I have curves where a girl should have curves.

No let's keep these skinny women with great boobs on the magz any way they are everyones ideal and we just need to toughen up and deal with the raising rates of depression and bulimia at yonger and youger ages affecting women AND men....who cares? As long it keeps making $$$ for the advertisers right?

Yes, like Dove does.

However, it's our fault because we buy into the image of the "perfect" body and put such people on a pedestal and put pressure on ourselves.

So I suggest we do not buy these fashion magazines with stick insects in them.

We should actually have a wider variety of women as models and focus more on fashion that actually works for them, skinny, big or whatever.

No. We need to keep the integrity of standards, whether it's beauty, intelligence, athletics etc. In fashion magazines, the standard is beauty, therefore, we should have the best looking women.

I agree, but unfortunately it is kind of a psychological thing with women...if they see these women that look gorgeous in these magazines, they will think they might look the same in these clothes(ie:lingerie, etc...) or at least they will feel like they look that sexy...Just my little oppinion
