got a job but cant afford public transit, any ideas?

i am a 21 year old girl from iowa, anyway i got a job from someone i know. the problem is, it is 27 miles away and i can't afford public transit ($56 roundtrip). the reason i have to use that is i am in a wheelchair and cannot drive. it is way too expensive.

Carpool.

Or contact your city government or city health department & see if there are services for the disabled or handicapped that would work for you.

Do you have a neighbor whom you could carpool with to the job?
Do you have a social worker...she may know of resources in your area to help you with your transportation needs.
Check the public transit office. There should be something available for people who are physically challenged.
Could you discuss this with your co-workers? Maybe they would be willing to create a schedule to help transport you.

See if there is a special service for the disabled, most towns have to offer them. You could also see it there is a discount available for the handicapped on the public transport, or if there is a monthly pass available........other than that, can you drive if you had a car or is that not possible with your disability? Oh what about a car pool? Good luck sweety!

Petition your local Government for transportation funding for para transportation, that doesn't take advantage of people requiring the service. Don't be surprised if your refused, The all mighty dollar is more important then anything in the US.

In Canada You would be picked up at your door and pay almost nothing. Specially if it ment you would be earning a pay check.

Public Transit is $56.00 a Day?? A cab would almost be cheaper! Does your area have a "Span" bus?

does anyone near you work close to there? Carpool and pay only about 50 a week for gas or less.
