Maps help guide people who are in need of finding a way of coming to their destination. Road maps and Physical aps are most effective but it depends on what the distance you are travelling. if you are travelling a small distance like traveling throughout a country and need safe or fast roads, Road Maps are useful. But if you are traveling a longer distance like across a couple countries or continent then Physical Maps are useful.

They're not that useful without a compass, as you don't know whether you're heading up(north) the map, down(south), etc. without having some way to detect direction.

They provide directions, so we don't "beat about the bush" in such a way that our destination focus and attention are not distracted.
