The 13th ammendment was created to abolish slavery in the United States.

The 14th ammendment was to prevent anyone who healed an elected office in the U. S. Government or any of the Sate governments from holding An elected office if they partisipated in rebellion or insurection against any of the governments and to authorize funding for and inforcement.

The 13th Amendment, ratified in 1865, expressly outlawed "slavery" and "involuntary servitude." The 14th, ratified in 1868, repudiated the Dred Scott decision and guaranteed various rights to the freed slaves.
