I enjoy watching the sport, tons of adrenaline rushes and skill, but isn't all Auto Racing completely destroying the ozone and ecosystem? They use so much gas, and the sport as a whole promotes more gas usage and emissions... Banning auto-racing is almost impossible, but something needs to be done, they are all killing the environment, and low emmission cars aren't nearly as powerful and fun to watch race.

What little bit race cars produce is insignificant to the cars driven by the fans to the track
But your solution of low emissions cars in all motor sports would solve the problem.
The low emissions cars would speed around Daytona International Speedway at a blistering pace of 55 MPH
The fans would be so bored, they would never return, thus solving the problem of all of the emissions produced by the fans coming to the track
The race would be too boring to watch on TV. The race teams would quickly lose their sponsorships. And racing would end.
A much better solution is not to worry about 40 or so race cars on the track for a few hours a week, but worry about the millions of cars on the street every day.
We need more environmentally friendly fuels like E85.
We need the fuel economy standards more correctly measured. Fuel economy tests for the EPA are done on a treadmill and do not accurately reflect the actual fuel economy of the vehicle. Thus the car manufactures produce vehicles that look like they are getting good fuel mileage on paper, but are actually gas hogs. Just ask someone who recently bought a hybrid and see if they got anywhere near the mileage promised. Then use these new figures to enforce the fuel economy standards already in place.
We need to concentrate on more environmentally friendly power sources for our homes and factories such as wind, solar and hydroelectric power.
These would have much more impact than worrying about a few race cars.

NASCAR is switching to an unleaded fuel in 2007 as well as the fact that they only race for 4 hours a weekend, but if you even factor practice, qualifying ect.. everything is still less then two hours of cars in New York City at any given time. They arn't helping, but they are not hurting as much as the cities all around the world. So the answer is No

I vote for more full efficent cars so we can stop polluting the ozone but think about it we are using are resources up to quick and the fuel saving technology came to late. What if one day their was no more oil in the world the economy would crash and people would of wished they had gotten more fuel efficent trucks and suvs because cars get pretty decent gas mielage but suvs and trucks suck. If every car got around 30 to 40 mpg then we would be okay and the ozone wouldn't be as bad and we wouldnt be getting warmer and unless we do something now then we are all done for and it wont be us but it will be our childrens' children so our grandchildren will ahve to suffer and the earth might not be able to stand human life so what happens then?

I don't know about NASCAR but I read a statistic about Formula 1 which said that if you add up all the fuel used by all the teams for the entire season, it is less than one Jumbo uses to cross from London to New York. Food for thought.

Dude get a life !! Everybody is so worried about the enviroment this, global warming that, its all a bunch of BS. No one that is currently on earth now will ever have to deal with any of this. If anything truly does happen it will be hundreds of not thousands of years down the road. If you truly think NASCAR contributes to global warming you are truly nuts. All you tree huggers and PETA activist need to truly get a life.
I'm now going to go take my Super Charged Dodge Ram 4x4 that has muffler removed and glass packs installed right off the cadilidac converter and do burnouts up and down my street - because I can.
