What Characteristics made Africa vulnerable?

I am working on a history assignment. The question is What characteristics made Africa vulnerable to slavery? I have looked in my history book and even online but can't seem to find the answer

it all began as a community ownership. if a person was indebt, they were then enslaved to work off their debt. they eventually incorporated war where the losers of the war became captives. instead of them being killed at battle, they were enslaved. that is also how there supposedly were able to keep the criminals out of regular society. so it started with the african and turned into everything that was inhumane. the americas began kidnapping and using force inorder to gain free/cheap slave labor.

tribal differences played a part in the slave trade. some african tribes began working with the europeans in capturing members of rival tribes and turning them over to the europeans.

I think the Europeans had guns and they made the tribal leaders sign treaties that the tribal leaders didn't understand, thus trading their own people.

Go ask your black neighbours, or some elder black folk, what was it?

Maybe the enslaved peoples were forced into it by people with more weapons? i.e. the Arabs and Europeans who had guns?
