It's not a question of having kids. You can conceive kids. It's just that the chances are very high that the baby will inherit the disease as it is a genetic defect.

If men with sickle cell couldn't impregnate a woman, then sickle cell would have died off because the trait would have stopped being passed along.
The answer is - unless he has proof he can't get u pregnant, then he is only guessing he can't.

I would think that he CAN (not "should") have kids, but the risk of them getting his disease is far too great for him to even consider the idea. Why don't you ask him why? I'm sure he knows all about it. Good luck!

I do believe he can kids, he just maybe doesn't want them to come out with the same illness he has.
