My sympathy is with you.
Review old bank statements, checkbooks, etc to find out who she paid for insurance, attorney information, etc.
You might want to keep the house for a few months, if you can afford to, so that you can deal with all that you are facing, then you will be able to think clearly and make better decisions.
Be Blessed!!

My condolences. Keep looking for the will. If there is none, the house will go into probate which will cost you about 5-10% of the value of the house. Do you have a father or siblings? Without a will, the house and car goes to your father if they were still married. If not, you and your siblings must pay the payment and will most likely inherit the property.

You may want to seek the advice of a lawyer. Depending on what type of debt your mom had, she may have bills to pay out of her estate. You are not responsible for your mom's bills though. Don't contact anyone regarding her debts until you seek a lawyers advice or some type of professional who can advise you.
The car may be taken back by the finance company. That is what happened when my ex died. Ford made arrangements to have his truck and his car picked up. Not that it relinquishes the debt, make sure you get something in writing as well that you did turn over the car voluntarily.
We had private investigators who were hired by Ford watching my house. The P.I. left a card on my door and I called Ford. They told me he was hired by them. I finally made arrangements for him to come pick up vehicles. As long as you do not open succession on your mom's estate, everything will pretty much sit in limbo. But check your state laws. Because things are different from one state to the other.
Good luck and so sorry for your loss.

Hugs to you for your loss. Find out if she had an attorney. If you want to keep the property and the car, pay the payments. Call an attorney to see what you should do. Hugs again for your loss.

This exact same thing happend with my grandfather......if you can't find a will, and you have siblings.....discuss with them about selling the house, or giving it to state probate.....i would do the same thing if you do not have siblings.....the only bad thing about probate is they will ask for a cut.....
