My personal fave is "Ashes to Ashes" from the Scary Monsters album, 1980. It's a poignant, surreal follow-up to "Major Tom" and one of Bowie's earliest forays into music video as an artistic expression.
Runner up: "The Man Who Sold The World" from the album of the same name. I don't know why....it just stays with me.

Don't know too many of his songs in the 70's except for
Rebel, Rebel; and Ziggy Stardust -er- Space Oddity
In the 80's - a couple of catchy tunes were
China Girl, Modern Love, Blue Jeans, Let's Dance, Fame

My Bowie collection is ecclectic to say the least... 'Scary Monsters' is a fantastic album, as is 'The Man Who sold the World', 'Aladin Sane', 'Young Americans', 'Heroes' and 'Black Tie, White Noise'.
That said, my favourite tracks would have to be: 'Star Man' - the first Bowie track I ever heard at age 8, 'Young Americans' - the funkiest Bowie track I ever heard, until I heard 'Golden Years' - the film clip is fantastic (everyone funking down on Soul Train, he was the first white guy ever to appear on it), 'Heroes' is a bit of a tear jerker and 'Life on Mars' is just awesome, "Oh you Pretty Things" is lovely and "China Girl" is hot! - much like the man himself...
I know you asked for one but he is so diverse that I have favourites from each genre but not one all out favourite.

I loved and still love Underground from the Labyrinth soundtrack, it was so moving and sad. If you've never heard it before it goes:
It's only forever
Not long at all
Lost and lonely
No one can blame you
For walking away
Too much rejection
No love injection
Life can be easy
It's not always swell
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl
'Cause it hurts like hell (echo hurts like hell)
But down in the underground
You'll find someone true
Down in the underground
A land serene
A crystal moon, ah ,ah
It's only forever
It's not long at all
Lost and lonely
That's underground
Underground
I also liked Let's Dance

Nevermind then...I can't choose just one. Under Pressure was the jam back in the day. Even Vanilla Ice thought so.

My favorite is "Stay" on Station to Station. Earl Slick and Carlos Alomar on guitars and a real funky bass line. Won't hear it on classic rock stations but it's a killer tune.
Also on the same album is "Golden Years" and "TVC15", not on Young Americans.

The best CD is "Scary Monsters." It has several really good songs. However, the very best song he made was from the "Young Americans" CD and is called "TVC19." It will blow you away!
