whats the difference between scientific law and scientific theory?

A theory is an educated and probably likely unproven statement.
If a theory remains true for a long period of time, usually 20 years, with no counterexamples, it becomes a law. A law is considered the undisputed truth, whereas a theory is the unproven truth.
