No, The Master is definetly not the Doctor's father. They are roughly both the same age. They were boyhood friends who both went to the Academy on Gallifrey to study. Both achieved a higher level of consciousness and learning. The Doctor embraced good, whereas The Master chose the dark side" in his quest for power. Both were renegades, both were exiled from Gallifrey and both travelled in a Tardis. The Master's looked like giant grandfather clock ( see the episode called "The Keeper of Traken".)They are now sworn enemies and have faced each other numerous times down the years. If you discount the Doctor Who movie from 19996, they last met in "Mark of the Rani", which is just out on dvd.

The master is in fact a Time lord the same as the Doctor and attended the same academic schooling together, obviously the Master is regarded as a renegade Time lord, both were brilliant students and the Doctor has always had a grudging admiration of the Master's brilliance but never agrees with his methods, the Master first appeared in "Terror of the Autons" and was played by the late Roger Delgado until his untimely death in 1973.

He was next seen in "The Deadly Assassin" with Tom Baker but was only seen as a dark figure. he next appeared in "The keeper of Traken" where the master took over Nyssa's fathers Body and was later to be played by the Late Anthony Ainley until the programme ended in 1989.

the Master was brought back to life in "Doctor Who" the movie by Eric Roberts in 1996 and has yet to be seen since

I doubt if The Master is The Doctor's father as they both went to the academy at the same time. They used to be friends at one point before the series took up The Doctor's story.

Oh, there were dozens, hundreds of episodes where Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and the older doctors fought The Master. In the old series, he was like Moriarty to Holmes. I expect the new series to introduce him soon. I don't think he was the Doctor's father. Just his nemesis.

Anthony Ainsley was the second master, Barry.

Cheers!

Actually the master is a key character in Doctor Who. You see him a lot throughout the episodes. As far as him being the Father of the Doctor, I have seen no mention of that on any fansites.

The Lord's name is Jesus. And my bible has God's name ALL OVER IT! Jehovah - 'A mispronunciation [introduced by Christian theologians but almost entirely disregarded b the Jews]of the Hebrew YHWH the [ineffable] name of God..this pronunciation is grammatically impossible it arose through pronouncing the vowels of 'Adonay' with the consonants of 'YHWH'...Jehovah is generally held to have been the invention of Pope Leo X's confessor Peter Galatin [The Jewish Encyclopaedia Vol7 p87-88] Isaiah 10v21 speaks of Mighty God - is that speaking of Jehovah then or Jesus? Thanks. Please note the WHOLE of the quote at Isaiah 9v6 - He will be called.....everlasting Father. Not only is Jesus Mighty God but everlasting Father also! Unless Jesus is God what does this scripture mean? But please only RELY ON A BIBLE WITH GOD'S NAME IN IT TO ANSWER - no WT or Awake publications. Rev 22v18 - Jesus calls himself the Alpha and Omega, the First and the the Last, the Beginning and the End'. So tell me are there TWO Alpha and Omegas then? :)

Okay, peps. In the Second Doctor's Reign of the TARDIS, in the episode, "The Mind Robber" the Doctor faces off with the Master, which as far as I'm concerned is when he was first introduced, and didn't return again until "Terror of the Autons" in Jon Pertwee's Reign.

It is not known who the Master was, there are schools of thought that he was the doctors Father and even one that he was his brother.
