do debt collectors work on commission and why are they so rude?

I just wonder if they work on commission because I just talked to one and she was so rude and started asking me personal questions. It's like I owe her the money or something. So when I pay it I surely will not be dealing with her.

Depends on the company, usually its some combination of base pay and commission.

I'm not sure what you mean by personal questions, but in theory, you owe her employer money and if that is the case, then she is working for the money you owe her and her employer. Maybe she phrased the question not to your liking, but she may have also been attempting to ascertain information to find the best solution to pay your bill.
