Because maybe he makes a point of telling people ? I have a mate who's half Indian, half Irish and he gets on fine with most people. He's also gay which probably brings him to a few more narrow minded peoples attentiion. The point is he should be known for who he is i.e funny, good listener etc etc rather than what he is as that really shouldn't matter. Sure he is entitled to be proud of it but it really shouldn't define him as a person.

well, both sides of his parentage would experience prejudice in english society i guess (there was a memorable scene in bend it like beckham where that was brought up) and on top of that there would still be some resentment of interethnic breeding, so he'd get the prejudice from being mixed too. even if he doesn't experience the prejudice himself anymore - thank goodness society seems to have grown up a bit in that regard - his parents certainly would have and might have passed on some of their bad experiences and residual bitterness to him, so he might see prejudice and stereotyping where there is none because he is prejudiced himself and stereotypes the people around him. it might be a good idea to ask him to rationalise and explain his feelings to you, instead of blurting out probably unqualified statements. that way you might be able to get to the bottom of it and see what is really happening around him and if he is right or wrong to feel the way he does. what's your own ethnicity? if you're of anglo-saxon descent you could start by suggesting that you are not shunning him, so why does he think other people do.

Maybe his feelings of being prejudiced is well founded. Do you live in a community with different races? That should help. If not, make friends with the neighbors and include him. Encourage him to come out and talk to them.

Because he's neither one thing or another...to make a crude analogy it's a bit like genetically engineering a hybrid of a snail and a tortoise, it would just be a snortoise and wouldn't fit in with the snails or the tortoises.
Humans are a bit more complex than that obviously, but sometimes we like to make it simple and reduce it to us vs. them. Unfortunately for your mate he'll always be a them.

Some people are just plain ignorant, regardless of ethnicity.
One can face discrimination from without and within a group unfortunately. I know this first hand. However, there are way more understanding people than ignorant if you give people a chance.

No idea as to why!

His experience is subjective ...could have more to do with him and his behaviour / attitude etc that creates situations....! It could be a myriad of other reasons.

It won't compute. Insufficient data provided.

Sash.

Just tell him to let his irish side take over and all his problems will be gone.

Tell him that I said if he's not being accepted in london, he should come over to Africa with his international passport and be the most wanted hot, spicy and sizzling guy in town forever( I could be his tour guide)!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it is anything to do with where his parents are from if people are shunning him then maybe there is something wrong with him like he is a nasty ratbag. You should be able to help him out.

Go out with him and just watch how people react.

You should listen to him more.

And you don't think he's feeling something real?
